Women in Leadership HR best practice network

Pursuit Executive is the main sponsor of the Women in Leadership network, a knowledge exchange forum for senior female executives with HR responsibilities, in leading organisations in East Anglia and South East England.

Recruitment and Retention

We are delighted that legal expert Cas Carrington of KLC Employment Law Consultants will be joining our Essex-based Women in Leadership group on Wednesday 15th May 2024 to discuss the challenges of disciplinaries and grievances, in the workplace.

This is an exclusive event for our Women in Leadership group, the membership of which is drawn from our active client base. If you would like to join this group, and you already do business, or would like to do business with us, we’d love to hear from you. Places do occasionally become available, so please do get in touch and find out if membership of this network would be helpful for you.

About Women in Leadership

The initial idea for this group came from two of our clients, both highly professional senior HR Directors with major employers in our region. Although they are at the top of their game professionally, they recognise that there’s always something new to learn, and they want to stay current with and encourage best practice.

Despite the considerable pressures on their time, they also want to encourage other HR professionals in developing their careers, and to create a forum in which invaluable supportive friendships could flourish. We all need a sounding board from time to time.

People – an asset and a challenge!

We realise that it isn’t only HR professionals who face HR dilemmas; many other senior executives shoulder responsibilities for employees. Almost everyone running a business has to deal with people; our biggest asset, and also, sometimes, our greatest challenge!

Dealing with people, quite rightly, takes time, effort, and resources – because we want to get it right; providing workplaces which are fair, inclusive and nurturing, allowing our most talented people to thrive and develop.

The founders of Women in Leadership felt that what was needed was a forum in which senior female executives could compare notes, exchange knowledge and best practice, and suggest possible solutions to each other’s challenges. We meet every few months to explore current issues and how we can best address them. We encourage lively discussion and workshops which add to our knowledge and expertise.
Women in Leadership is designed to help its members to benefit from the many combined years of experience that we together represent. From our own perspective at Pursuit, it offers an excellent insight into the day-to-day challenges which the ongoing management of people brings, so it helps us to refine and polish our recruitment services, especially in our Pursuit Executive division.

Will you join us?

At the moment, membership is by invitation, but if, as a senior executive, you feel you have a wealth of experience to offer, and know you still have plenty to learn, we’d love to hear from you. If you would like to take part, please get in touch with Lorraine, who will explain membership and let you know if there are places available.

We make no apology for making this a network for women. We may have come a long way; many of us have proved ourselves as accomplished entrepreneurs and business leaders; but it is still the case that most women have additional challenges to overcome, especially in terms of work/life balance. Women are still underrepresented in the boardroom, so a sympathetic sounding board and ready access to a wealth of knowledge is always useful.

There is no substitute for experience; we aim to use ours to help each other.
